Bayer Delivers the Newest Weapon in the Fight Against Bed Bugs
Bayer Environmental Science is pleased to announce that bed bugs have officially fallen into "The Temprid Zone," having received acceptance from the Environmental Protection Agency to add bed bug control to the Temprid SCTM Insecticide label.
In response to the industry's growing demand for a fast, effective solution against bed bugs - especially those strains that have shown resistance to pyrethroids - Bayer worked diligently to expedite the addition of bed bugs to the Temprid SC Insecticide label. "We are thrilled to deliver a new weapon in the fight against bed bugs to the industry, especially at a time when infestations are on the rise nationwide," says Eric Lentz, general insect control marketing manager for Bayer.
New Durable Bait for the Sentricon System Receives Federal Registration
Dow AgroSciences has received federal registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for RecruitTM HDtermite bait, a new durable bait for the SENTRICON®Termite Colony Elimination System. Recruit HD contains noviflumuron, the same proven active ingredient currently used in RecruitTM IV termite bait for the SENTRICON System, but is contained in a special bait matrix that extends durability. Each station for the SENTRICON System featuring Recruit HD is baited during installation and remains baited as long as a service contract is maintained. "What makes Recruit HD so durable is that it is 30 percent comprised of a cellulose-based," says Don Williams, research engineer for Dow AgroSciences. "But because it's cellulose-based, there is no compromise in its palatability to subterranean termites."

Rising Fuel Costs Makes Reducing Callbacks More Important Than Ever!
By: Dr. Cisse
Spragins, Rockwell Labs
We all know the importance of
efficient routing now that the cost of fuel is toppling $4.00 per gallon. But
have you considered ways to reduce callbacks? Consider getting creative with the
use of available pesticides and watch your callbacks plummet and your bottom
line soar.
With the heat of the summer here,
ants and other perimeter pests are thriving in areas that provide food,
moisture, and/or harborage. These areas include mulch beds, heavy vegetation,
woodpiles, attics, crawls and cracks and crevices around structures.
For
fast control, a "one-two punch" using baits combined with a non-repellent
insecticide works extremely well. Bait is attractive to insects,
so applying bait in the zone treated with the nonrepellent will draw pests
A scrubbable feast: Albemarle to decide if green is clean
by Laura Hoffman-July 9,
2008-Charlottesville Hook
If your
name is Lysol or Clorox, you're no longer welcome in Albemarle County buildings,
and you may soon be banned from county schools as well. On June 4, the Board of
Supervisors did away with synthetic chemical cleaning agents in county
buildings, ending routine disinfecting of high-touch areas- bathrooms and
kitchens- unless there's a viral outbreak or other health emergency. In place of
disinfecting, the new policy calls for sanitizing- cleaning with plain old soap
and water or green cleaners. On Thursday, July 10, the Albemarle County School
Board will begin considering whether schools should also go green when it's time
to clean.
Backed by Bayer Baiting Tips for Residential Accounts
Research Triangle Park, N.C - August 21, 2007 - Bayer
Environmental Science is pleased to offer a series of "Backed by Bayer Baiting
Tips" to help pest management professionals control cockroaches in residential
accounts.
"When a heavy infestation
exists within the home, one of the most effective means for controlling even the
most finicky cockroaches is a combination approach of bait gel, such as
Maxforce® FC Magnum, and strategically placed cockroach bait
stations," says Gordon Morrison, Maxforce Insecticides Market Manager. "PMPs
should also take the time to educate their customers about the importance of IPM
techniques, such as exclusion and sanitation, which will help maximize treatment
efforts and prevent future infestations."
When tackling a roach infestation inside and around a
customer's home, PMPs should consider the following treatment
strategies:
