Guidelines for selection of Industry Stewardship Award recipient
In May of each year, a letter will be sent to each of the previous Stewardship Award recipients inviting them to submit nominations for the current year award cycle. In addition, invitations will be made through e-mail, newsletter and the website to all active and allied members in good standing to make nominations by the same deadline.
To be considered a valid nomination, it must be submitted to the executive office by June 15. Nominations can only be submitted by past stewardship award recipients or active or allied members in good standing; and it must be a written nomination that includes the nominees' contributions to the industry to support the nomination. All nominations will be forwarded to the president and all past award recipients to review.
A discussion group will be formed by July 15 that will include the VPMA president and the most recent recipient of the award and two other past recipients that the president and the most recent recipient will choose together. No recipient may serve on this discussion group in concurrent years.
While the discussion group will review the nominations and make recommendations to the president for the current year award recipient, the final decision rests with the VPMA president. The award recipient will be forwarded to the executive director by August 15, and announced at the annual meeting held in conjunction with the State Technical Meeting.
