Calling All Techs Who Are Cat 8 Certified - or Attemping Cat 8 Exam

Regulatory Alert:

The VPMA Legislative and Regulatory Committee submitted a petition for rulemaking to the Virginia Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services to propose the creation of a new pesticide certification category specific to Backyard Mosquito Control with the intent to modernize and streamline certification for applicators engaged solely in residential mosquito control, excluding content from Category 8 that is not applicable to this scope of work.

How You Can Help:

We are now working to collect important data about the Category 8 Public Health Pest Control certification and testing process.

  • Does your company currently have a Cat 8 Certified Commercial Applicator on staff?
  • Have any of your personnel gone through the Cat 8 testing process?
  • Do you have anyone in the process now?

Please share this survey with anyone on your team who has gone through, or is planning to go through, the process of testing and certifying in Cat 8 Public Health Pest Control.

Take the Survey

We would like to collect these surveys by Nov. 5, 2025.

Next week, we will need members to submit comments on the Petition for Rulemaking, so please watch your inbox for more instructions!

And, if you have a tech going through this process now, register them for the Cat 8 Prep Course and Exam on Nov. 11, 2025!
